असहमति का अधिकार बनाम नफ़रत फैलाने की ज़िम्मेदारी

हाल के दिनों में सोशल मीडिया पर इन्फ्लुएंसर प्रसाद वेदपाठक द्वारा जैन साधुओं के लिए बनाई गई सफेद पट्टी (White Pathway) को लेकर कई वीडियो और टिप्पणियाँ सामने आई हैं। इन वीडियो में इस व्यवस्था पर सवाल उठाए गए और कुछ पोस्टों में इसे "Jain Jihad" जैसे शब्दों से भी जोड़ा गया, जिस पर व्यापक आपत्ति और आलोचना हुई। बाद में स्वयं उन्होंने स्पष्टीकरण भी जारी किया कि उनका उद्देश्य जैन धर्म पर हमला करना नहीं था।

तथ्य यह है कि जैन साधु-साध्वियाँ परंपरागत रूप से नंगे पैर विहार करते हैं। भीषण गर्मी में सड़क या मार्ग का तापमान अत्यधिक बढ़ जाता है, इसलिए कई स्थानों पर अस्थायी रूप से सफेद कोटिंग या सफेद पट्टी का उपयोग सतह को अपेक्षाकृत ठंडा रखने के लिए किया जाता है। यह व्यवस्था किसी राजनीतिक, सांप्रदायिक या विस्तारवादी उद्देश्य से नहीं, बल्कि धार्मिक आचरण और सुविधा से जुड़ी मानी जाती है।

हम सभी को प्रश्न पूछने, सहमति या असहमति व्यक्त करने और साझा संपत्ति के उपयोग पर चर्चा करने का पूरा अधिकार है। परंतु किसी शांतिपूर्ण धार्मिक परंपरा को बिना पर्याप्त आधार के उग्रवादी या घृणा से जुड़े शब्दों से जोड़ना सामाजिक सौहार्द को नुकसान पहुँचा सकता है।

सभी इन्फ्लुएंसर्स, कंटेंट क्रिएटर्स और सार्वजनिक व्यक्तियों से विनम्र आग्रह है कि वे अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता का प्रयोग जिम्मेदारी के साथ करें। आलोचना तथ्यों पर आधारित होनी चाहिए, न कि ऐसे शब्दों पर जो किसी समुदाय की प्रतिष्ठा को ठेस पहुँचाएँ या अनावश्यक वैमनस्य पैदा करें। भारत का कानून अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा करता है, लेकिन साथ ही घृणा फैलाने, मानहानि करने या विभिन्न समुदायों के बीच शत्रुता बढ़ाने वाले आचरण पर भी सीमाएँ निर्धारित करता है।

असहमति लोकतंत्र की ताकत है; नफ़रत नहीं।
तथ्य बहस को मजबूत बनाते हैं; उत्तेजक लेबल समाज को कमजोर करते हैं।

अभिव्यक्ती स्वातंत्र्य म्हणजे द्वेष पसरवण्याचा परवाना नाही

अलीकडच्या काळात सोशल मीडिया इन्फ्लुएंसर प्रसाद वेदपाठक यांनी जैन साधूंच्या उन्हाळ्यातील विहारासाठी तयार करण्यात आलेल्या पांढऱ्या पट्टीबाबत अनेक व्हिडिओ प्रसिद्ध केले. या व्हिडिओंमधील काही विधानांमध्ये या व्यवस्थेचा उल्लेख "Jain Jihad" सारख्या शब्दांत करण्यात आल्याचा आरोप झाला, ज्यामुळे जैन समाजासह अनेक नागरिकांमध्ये तीव्र नाराजी निर्माण झाली.

या विषयाकडे तथ्यांच्या आधारे पाहणे आवश्यक आहे. जैन साधू-साध्वी पारंपरिकरीत्या अनवाणी विहार करतात. उन्हाळ्यात रस्त्यांचे तापमान अत्यंत वाढते. त्यामुळे काही ठिकाणी जमिनीवरील उष्णता कमी करण्यासाठी तात्पुरती पांढरी पट्टी किंवा पांढरे आवरण तयार केले जाते. ही व्यवस्था धार्मिक परंपरा, मानवी संवेदनशीलता आणि साधूंच्या सुरक्षिततेशी संबंधित आहे. तिचा कोणत्याही प्रकारच्या कब्जा, वर्चस्व किंवा सांप्रदायिक विस्ताराशी संबंध नाही.

लोकशाहीत प्रत्येक नागरिकाला प्रश्न विचारण्याचा, टीका करण्याचा आणि मत व्यक्त करण्याचा अधिकार आहे. मात्र अभिव्यक्ती स्वातंत्र्यासोबत जबाबदारीही येते. कोणत्याही समुदायाबद्दल तथ्यांशिवाय भडक आणि दिशाभूल करणारे शब्द वापरणे सामाजिक सलोख्यास बाधा पोहोचवू शकते.

सर्व इन्फ्लुएंसर्स, कंटेंट क्रिएटर्स आणि सार्वजनिक व्यक्तींना विनंती आहे की त्यांनी कोणतेही गंभीर आरोप करण्यापूर्वी तथ्यांची पडताळणी करावी. टीका स्वीकारार्ह आहे; परंतु चुकीची माहिती आणि उत्तेजक भाषेचा वापर समाजासाठी घातक ठरू शकतो.

भारतीय संविधान अभिव्यक्ती स्वातंत्र्याचे संरक्षण करते, परंतु त्याच वेळी मानहानी, द्वेषपूर्ण भाषण आणि समुदायांमध्ये वैमनस्य निर्माण करणाऱ्या कृतींवर कायदेशीर मर्यादा देखील घालते.

मतभेद लोकशाहीची ताकद आहेत. द्वेष नाही.

તાજેતરમાં સોશિયલ મીડિયા ઇન્ફ્લુએન્સર પ્રસાદ વેદપાઠકે જૈન સાધુઓની ઉનાળામાં પદયાત્રા દરમિયાન સુવિધા માટે બનાવવામાં આવતી સફેદ પટ્ટી અંગે અનેક વીડિયો પ્રકાશિત કર્યા છે. આમાંથી કેટલીક ટિપ્પણીઓમાં આ વ્યવસ્થાને "Jain Jihad" જેવા શબ્દો સાથે જોડવામાં આવી હોવાનું કહેવાય છે, જેના કારણે જૈન સમાજ તથા અનેક નાગરિકોમાં ચિંતા અને વિરોધ જોવા મળ્યો.

આ મુદ્દાને તથ્યોના આધારે સમજવો જરૂરી છે. જૈન સાધુ-સાધ્વીઓ પરંપરાગત રીતે નિર્લોભ જીવનશૈલી અને અહિંસાના સિદ્ધાંત મુજબ નંગા પગે વિહાર કરે છે. ઉનાળાની તીવ્ર ગરમીમાં રસ્તાઓનું તાપમાન અત્યંત વધી જાય છે. તેથી કેટલાક સ્થળોએ જમીનની ગરમી ઘટાડવા માટે તાત્કાલિક સફેદ પટ્ટી અથવા સફેદ કોટિંગ કરવામાં આવે છે. આ વ્યવસ્થા ધાર્મિક પરંપરા, માનવતાવાદી સંવેદના અને સાધુઓની સુવિધા સાથે સંબંધિત છે. તેનો કોઈ રાજકીય, સાંપ્રદાયિક અથવા કબજાખોરીના હેતુ સાથે સંબંધ નથી.

દરેક નાગરિકને પ્રશ્ન પૂછવાનો, ટીકા કરવાનો અને પોતાના વિચારો વ્યક્ત કરવાનો અધિકાર છે. પરંતુ અભિવ્યક્તિની સ્વતંત્રતા સાથે જવાબદારી પણ જોડાયેલી છે. કોઈપણ સમુદાય વિશે પૂરતા તથ્યો વિના ઉશ્કેરણીજનક શબ્દોનો ઉપયોગ કરવાથી સામાજિક સૌહાર્દને નુકસાન પહોંચી શકે છે.

અમે તમામ ઇન્ફ્લુએન્સર્સ, કન્ટેન્ટ ક્રિએટર્સ અને જાહેર જીવન સાથે જોડાયેલા લોકોને વિનંતી કરીએ છીએ કે તેઓ ગંભીર આક્ષેપો કરતા પહેલાં તથ્યોની યોગ્ય ચકાસણી કરે. ટીકા સ્વીકાર્ય છે, પરંતુ ભ્રામક માહિતી અને ભડકાઉ ભાષાનો ઉપયોગ લોકહિતમાં નથી.

ભારતનું બંધારણ અભિવ્યક્તિની સ્વતંત્રતાનું રક્ષણ કરે છે, પરંતુ સાથે સાથે માનહાનિ, દ્વેષપૂર્ણ ભાષણ અને સમુદાયો વચ્ચે વૈમનસ્ય ફેલાવતી પ્રવૃત્તિઓ સામે કાનૂની મર્યાદાઓ પણ નક્કી કરે છે.

મતભેદ લોકશાહીની શક્તિ છે. દ્વેષ નહીં.

In recent weeks, social media influencer Prasad Vedpathak has published multiple videos concerning the white pathway (popularly referred to as the "white patti") created to facilitate the movement of Jain monks during extreme summer conditions. Some of these videos and statements sparked controversy after the pathway was allegedly described using terms such as "Jain Jihad," leading to widespread criticism and concern among members of the Jain community and civil society.

It is important to understand the facts. Jain monks and nuns traditionally travel barefoot as part of their religious discipline and commitment to non-violence and renunciation. During peak summer, road surfaces can become dangerously hot. In several places, temporary white coatings or pathways are created to reduce surface heat and make travel safer for ascetics. This practice is rooted in religious accommodation and humanitarian concern, not in political assertion, territorial control, or communal dominance.

Every citizen has the constitutional right to question, criticize, and debate public issues. However, freedom of expression carries a corresponding responsibility. Public commentary should be based on facts and reasonable inquiry, not inflammatory labels that may stigmatize an entire community.

We respectfully urge all influencers, content creators, and public commentators to exercise due diligence before making allegations that can damage social harmony. Criticism is legitimate; misinformation and the reckless use of provocative terminology are not.

India's constitutional framework protects free speech while also recognizing legal limits against defamation, hate speech, and actions that promote hostility between communities. Public discourse should strengthen democracy through informed debate, not deepen divisions through sensationalism.

Disagreement is a democratic right. Hatred is not.
