A Breath Away From Life: Arpita’s Story
Arpita Dicholkar is just 19 years old—an age meant for dreams, plans, and hope. But today, her life has been reduced to a painful struggle for every single breath.
Arpita comes from an economically very weak family. Despite limited means, she held on to big dreams and a quiet determination to build a better future. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. After months of deteriorating health, medical investigations at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, revealed a devastating diagnosis: Arpita’s left lung has been completely destroyed.
According to the official medical report issued by Dr. Vimesh Rajput, Hon. Consultant – VATS and Robotic Thoracic Surgery, Arpita urgently requires a Left Pneumonectomy, a surgery in which the damaged lung must be removed entirely to save her life. Doctors have clearly stated that the surgery is urgent, the outcome is good and curative, and importantly, no chemotherapy or radiation therapy is required.
There is hope. There is a cure.
But there is also a heartbreaking obstacle.
The cost of this life-saving surgery is approximately ₹6,00,000—an amount far beyond what Arpita’s family can arrange. Every passing day without surgery puts her life at greater risk.
