An Open Letter by Nikhil Pattani | World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Subject: “Jeevan Rekha: A Pause, A Promise, A Purpose

Dear Friends,

Every year, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we’re reminded that mental health matters — not just in families and friendships but also in workplaces, communities, and even the industries we build.

This year, through our Jeevan Rekha Campaign, Shanti Sankalp envisioned creating a 24-hour action movement where people from all walks of life share their stories of courage, survival, and hope.

Real Estate & Mental Health: Building More Than Homes

As someone deeply rooted in the real estate industry for over two decades, I have witnessed the silent battles people fight behind closed doors — from financial stress to job insecurity to loneliness in urban living.

Real estate isn’t just about constructing buildings; it’s about creating safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued. The design of our homes, workplaces, and communities must evolve to support emotional well-being.

At Destiniva Realty and Scholars’ Takshashila, we’re taking a step forward:

Encouraging developers to design community-centric spaces that promote human connection.

Educating the next generation of real estate professionals about mental health awareness.

Why Jeevan Rekha Still Matters

'Jeevan Rekha' isn’t just a campaign— it’s a reminder:

“Your story is not over. You can pause, breathe, and begin again.”

Through this campaign, we aim to:

Create awareness drives about suicide prevention

Provide free mental health resources in collaboration with experts

Build a network of safe spaces within our industry and communities

Educate homebuyers, investors, and developers about designing mindful living environments

Moving Forward Together

Mental health is not a one-day conversation; it’s an ongoing movement.

Project जीवनरेखा was never about perfection — it is about people, connections, and commitments.

Going forward, Shanti Sankalp will:

Strengthen on-ground community outreach through Destiniva

Launch educational workshops and awareness sessions with Scholars’ Takshashila

Amplify storytelling, survivor voices, and resources

Build a dedicated support network where help is accessible, stigma-free, and inclusive

A Shared Responsibility

Suicide prevention cannot rest on the shoulders of one organization or one campaign. It requires all of us — as families, communities, educators, and citizens — to come together.

If Project जीवनरेखा inspires even one conversation, saves even one life, or gives someone the courage to seek help — we have already begun to make a difference.

A Collective Call

I invite my fellow professionals, policymakers, developers, educators, and every individual reading this — let us co-create spaces of empathy. Let’s normalise conversations around mental health. Let’s prioritise people over profits.

Because when we build stronger minds, we build stronger homes.

When we create safer spaces, we create happier communities.

And when we save even one life, we’ve fulfilled the true purpose of our existence.

In hope and solidarity,

Nikhil Pattani
