From Mumbai to Kumbhoj: A Soul-Searching Ride with a Dash of Quirk

Traveled 375 km from Mumbai to Kumbhoj, Kolhapur, in 7 hours via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and NH48. Visited the serene Jagvallabh Parshavnath Temple, the artistically stunning Jahaaj Mandir, and the awe-inspiring Bahubali statue. The journey was a blend of spirituality, tranquility, and quirky roadside adventures—a soulful escape from the city’s chaos.

The road stretched ahead, a concrete thread weaving its way out of the chaos of Mumbai and into the serene embrace of Kumbhoj, Kolhapur. A journey of 375 km—a mix of smooth expressways, bumpy diversions, and chai stops—covered in about 7 hours. The route? Mumbai to Pune via the trusty Mumbai-Pune Expressway, then the NH48 straight to Kolhapur. GPS was my co-pilot, though I swear it enjoys rerouting me through the middle of nowhere sometimes.

As the city skyline faded, my excitement grew. I wasn’t just heading to Kumbhoj; I was journeying to the heart of Jain spirituality, with a quirky twist.

First stop: the breathtaking Jagvallabh Parshavnath Temple. Picture this: intricate carvings that look like they were whispered into existence by the gods themselves. It’s more than a temple—it’s a portal to peace. Stepping inside, I felt a wave of calm, as if Mumbai’s honking horns had been silenced in my soul.

Next, I wandered into the Jahaaj Mandir, where artistry meets philosophy. Every corner of this temple tells a story, a blend of tradition and unmatched craftsmanship. It's the kind of place where you stop to gape, forget your phone, and just absorb the sacred aura.

And then came the showstopper: the Bahubali statue. Towering, majestic, and humbling, it’s a 28-foot reminder that spiritual victory isn’t about winning the world—it’s about conquering yourself. I stood there, a speck in its shadow, feeling both tiny and infinite at the same time.

This wasn’t just a road trip; it was a soul trip. From Mumbai’s chaos to Kumbhoj’s tranquility, the journey was as transformative as the destination. Quirky chai breaks, roadside discoveries, and a playlist of everything from retro to rock—this was more than just 375 km. It was a ride into the heart of peace, with a side of adventure.
