Arihant – you want to become one day
Meaning of this virtuous word Arihant is as vast as innumerable universes put together to be explained, and yet cannot be completely defined. Ari (enemies) + Hant (to eliminate).
We are yet to know who our real enemies are. The Arihant with self-upliftment of soul, not only identifies the enemies, but with enormous will, courage, determination, dedication, and deeds could eliminate the enemies. The enemies are classified as eight Karmas defined in Jain scriptures as follows:
Arihant is a divine human being who is able to destroy the Ghati karmas (Karma associated with soul and affecting the soul) which can be eliminated with refined point of view, research and study, and implementation of the discovered path to eliminate karmas amassed over infinite births. Once Ghati karmas are destroyed complete, one attains Keval-Gyan, The ultimate enlightenment. The enlightened soul, full of knowledge, are available living resource to know the divine path of liberation from the cycle of births and deaths. They are the living liberated souls in their last birth.
Rest of the Karmas – Aghati Karma (not directly associated with soul but mostly affecting the body), these karmas are connected with the body and they get eliminated by default, in between the day he attains enlightenment to his death, we call it Nirvana. And the soul which got liberated will now be called as ‘Siddha’ from the state of Arihant.
The painting of Shri Arihant, who could be any enlightened soul in the past, or any one who is on the path of liberation. I tried to paint the divinity of Shri Arihant, thinking about his physical attributes in mind and yet a few attributes of his immaculate soul, can be observed in his eyes.
